Description
New Student Orientation (NSO) is available for all incoming freshmen and transfer students. First-time freshmen enrolling in the Summer or Fall 2026 semesters are required to attend before registering for classes. *If you are starting in the summer semester, you must attend the April NSO.
NSO requires a small registration fee of $20 per attendee, which can be paid using cash, check, or card at NSO check-in. Though attendance is mandatory for all first-time freshmen, it is strongly encouraged for transfer students. If these dates do not work with your schedule, please contact us and we will work around your schedule.
Parents and guests will not be allowed to attend NSO sessions with incoming students.

Questions & Answers
- Why should I attend?
NSO is a great opportunity to prepare for the college experience at LSUS. Not only do incoming freshmen and transfer students interact with other new students, but they also get to meet current students who can share their experiences at LSUS. Attending students will benefit from individualized assistance with class scheduling, getting to know where things are on campus, learning about student life, and preparing for their first semester of classes.
- Who should attend?
All first-time freshmen are required to attend NSO. Though transfer students are not required to attend, it is highly encouraged.
- What time?
All orientation sessions begin with check in at 8:00 a.m. (except August 21st which will start at 9 a.m.) and end in the afternoon at approximately 3:00 p.m. (ending times may vary).
- Can I bring guests to Orientation?
No, this is a student only event. We ask that no parents or guests come to NSO.
- How much does it cost?

- What do I need to bring to orientation?
Please bring a valid picture ID.
- What should I wear for orientation?
We encourage students attending an orientation to dress comfortably. In the summer months, it is quite warm outside, and we will be taking a tour of the campus. Most of your time is inside, a light jacket may be preferred.
